Key Features
- This project is a 5 year framework for BT with 106 sites to be delivered nationwide by 6 contractors
- The works consist of the refurbishment and upgrade of BT’s existing assets for new use, the refurbishment of offices, repurposing of old telephone exchanges, and the development of training facilities and other sites
- The pilot sites in Plymouth, Bodmin and Colchester were completed and were used to develop our approach to the scheme in the coming years
- This process was repeated for each site
- We were involved in the design process and the specification of this project to ensure the client’s needs were met, and specialist reviews of the scope of works were undertaken in order to fit the client’s budget
- We had a dedicated team on site throughout the process, with the same Project Manager and QS on every job for continuity and to strengthen the client relationship
Challenges and Solutions
- These works took place during the coronavirus pandemic
- We adhered strictly to the government guidelines which meant the works could continue with minimal disruption
- To reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus, the client asked our team to provide their own welfare so there would be no crossover between the client and the team
- Regular safety reports were conducted to make sure the health and safety of everyone involved in the project was prioritised, and an external SHEQ coordinator completed audits of all sites
