Portsmouth Cladding

Key Features

  • Etec have now started works on a two year £2,500,000 external refurbishment contract with Portsmouth City Council
  • The bulk of work involves remediation of non ACM Cladding Systems to medium and high rise blocks of residential flats
  • These works were procured via our framework partners LHC where we are the top ranked contractor on their Whole House Refurbishment framework
  • The works are being partly funded by the Building Safety Fund
  • The project will involve remedial works to eight blocks divided into four phases in order to achieve completion by December 2023
  • The works are to undertake the removal and replacement of cladding systems to residential high rise blocks in the Somerstown area of the city
  • These works are being delivered under a JCT Intermediate Contract with Contractors Design

Challenges and Solutions

  • We are responsible for developing the design of scaffold and other access solutions in order to enable efficient and safe delivery of the works
  • Each phase requires rapid and efficient mobilisation and delivery in order limit disruption caused to the building users as well as to deliver as many buildings as possible within the allocated year
  • We are making use of both cradle and conventional access systems in order to safely and efficiently deliver the works
  • We also have measures in place to ensure that residents are kept informed and that any disruption is minimised with a full time RLO on site
