1400 & 1500 Parkway Fareham
Key Features
The 1400 & 1500 Parkway Fareham project, commissioned by Huntingdon District Council, was composed of the full refurbishment of two three-storey commercial office buildings. With a project value of £1.6 million, the works were carried out under a Design and Build (D&B) contract between August 2023 and January 2024.
The project scope encompassed a Category A fit-out, transforming the internal spaces into functional and visually appealing professional environments. Mechanical and electrical (M&E) upgrades were undertaken, which included the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels to improve energy efficiency and reduce the buildings’ carbon footprint. External improvements featured upgrades to the car park and landscaping works to elevate the visual and practical appeal of the site. Additionally, the project included minor repairs and redecorations to ensure the buildings were in optimal condition for leasing.
Challenges and Solutions
Coordinating simultaneous works across both three-storey buildings presented significant logistical challenges, including ensuring consistent quality control and avoiding delays caused by resource conflicts.
The importance of meticulous pre-construction planning and maintaining open communication channels among all stakeholders was reinforced, ensuring seamless collaboration throughout the project.
Innovations
Integrating sustainable features such as PV panels while adhering to budgetary constraints required careful cost management and strategic allocation of resources.
Partnering with reliable suppliers and implementing a phased approach to sustainability upgrades helped achieve environmental targets without compromising financial considerations.
