Centre of Applied Sciences
Key Features
Etec delivered a comprehensive upgrade to education facilities, creating modern, purpose-built spaces to support engineering, animal care, and healthcare studies.
The works included new computer suite classrooms, and electronics and mechanical workshops with full DDA-compliant access, ensuring inclusivity for all users. A state-of-the-art animal care centre was developed, featuring animal enclosures, a veterinary clinic, and specialist teaching rooms.
Additionally, a healthcare teaching ward was constructed to provide students with realistic, hands-on training environments. The project also introduced a new optics centre, replacing outdated laboratories with advanced facilities designed to enhance the quality of technical and scientific education.
Challenges and Solutions
The City and Islington College is part of London’s vibrant academic network, with the Centre for Applied Sciences providing education for students aged 16 and above. Etec worked closely with the institution and aligned its project objectives with the educational standards expected in Central London universities.
The project team collaborated with the college’s administration team to ensure that the new facilities would meet the academic and technical requirements of various disciplines, including healthcare, engineering, and animal care.
