Challenges and Solutions
Maintaining programme adherence: Our finalised project programme was carefully created to ensure all lead-in times for materials were as realistic as possible, avoiding delays to the programme due to manufacturing/procurement delays.
Programme adherence was monitored daily by site management using our digital tracker, ensuring that any risk to adherence could be swiftly identified and resolved, avoiding delays to progress.
Trades were carefully scheduled by our Contracts Manager to allow multiple trades to operate safely onsite at once, speeding up progress and helping maintain adherence to tight timescales.
The majority of the works occurred during the school term time. Prior to start on site, we liaised with the school to understand the school’s opening and closing times, any important upcoming events, and particularly sensitive time periods during the school day. All deliveries and construction traffic were scheduled to avoid the school’s opening/closing times, helping safeguard pupil pedestrians and avoiding adding to the congestion of the school commuter traffic, and any particularly disruptive works were scheduled to avoid important events and sensitive time periods during the school day, ensuring minimal disturbance to the school’s day-to-day activities.
Early engagement with the school meant that the finalised project programme could be tailored to allow for these considerations, therefore, they caused minimal delay to progress.
