Key Features
- The project involved the creation of a cutting-edge, single-story sports pavilion spanning over 1,800 square meters.
- The existing building was demolished, with even the existing foundations removed. A notable eco-conscious effort was made in reusing the concrete from the old structure on-site, minimising waste and environmental impact.
- In addition to the athletic and fitness amenities, the pavilion offers spaces for community gatherings and events. Two community rooms have been thoughtfully included, complete with a movable partition or dividing wall to adapt to different needs and group sizes. This versatile arrangement ensures that the pavilion can serve as a hub for various community activities and events.
- Given the unique challenges posed by the site's location in an open field with unrestricted access, Etec implemented comprehensive security measures to safeguard both personnel and assets. This included the deployment of full-time security guards, robust timber hoarding, and CCTV surveillance equipped with PIR-operated lights to enhance site security.
- Navigating logistical complexities, Etec strictly managed deliveries to the site, which boasts a single road access heavily utilised for parking by residents during school hours. Through strategic coordination, including the deployment of a banksman and pre-arranged delivery slots, we ensured seamless operations while minimising disruption to the community.
- Environmental sustainability is a cornerstone of this project, as evident from the commitment to achieving BREEAM excellence. To attain this distinction, several measures have been taken including environmentally efficient M&E systems and air source heat pumps. The installation of an Axter Sedum roof is particularly noteworthy. This green roof system not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also contributes significantly to achieving the desired BREEAM score.
Challenges and Solutions
- The project presented security risks as this site is in an open field with access from all directions, Etec employed full time security guards, full timber hoarding and CCTV with PIR operated lights to assist with the protection and security of the site.
- As the pitches had been completed prior to our construction works of the pavilion it was time critical to get the centre operational, we have offered to give access to the pitches and open the car park before practical completion of the site to facilitate.
- There is a single road access for deliveries to the site which is heavily used during school hours for parking by local residents, this was controlled via a banksman and pre arranging delivery slots and closely managing a delivery timetable.
