Etec has completed a major new build and extension project at Torfell Apartments in South Woodford. This development is situated in a predominantly residential neighbourhood, conveniently located near commercial amenities such as shops, schools, restaurants, and a railway station.
The project began with the demolition of existing garages, making way for the construction of a new apartment block on the cleared site. The existing apartment block was refurbished, and a new extension was added, resulting in a total of 10 new flats.
Given the proximity to occupied residential buildings, maintaining a positive relationship with neighbouring residents was a top priority. We ensured regular updates and open communication channels throughout the project. A dedicated Site Manager was present at all times to oversee smooth operations and manage stakeholder interactions effectively.
The project was executed under a JCT Intermediate Contract with Contractor’s Design, encompassing temporary works, piling, structural steel connections, M&E, and tanking. This required careful management of architectural plans, material needs, and performance standards.
