Key Features
- We carried out refurbishment works to Willow House in Reading on behalf of the Salvation Army Housing Association
- Ground floor toilets and wet rooms were fully refurbished to create new facilities for the residents
- This included demolition works and then a full reconstruction including provision to allow for disabled and assisted use
- Elsewhere we stripped out and replaced kitchens including all necessary plumbing and electrical works. It was necessary to relocate the boilers in order to create the desired layout
- In the main reception we isolated and relocated services prior to demolition works and reconfiguration
- We then installed fire protection and detection systems as required prior to completing decoration works to all areas
Challenges and Solutions
- Willow House remained in full occupation throughout the works which required strict control of health and safety as well as measures to reduce noise and other forms of disruption
- Works to the reception areas required rerouting access points in order to retain use of the building for all occupants as well as maintaining emergency evacuation routes
- As a result of our good performance we have become an approved contractor for the Salvation Army enabling us to tender for future works
